26th European Hamradio Schoolstations Day – Latest News
Dear amateur radio enthusiasts at schools and universities,
There is less than one one week left until the European Hamradio School Station Day on 5 May and I would therefore like to provide you with the latest information on this event:
-
For logging QSOs you can download a contest freeware from ARCOMM, which already does most of the evaluation. Please download it from http://www.qslonline.de/kontest.htm#hameutag and unpack it into a separate folder. The software is available in a German and an English version. Unfortunately, the programme does not have a comment entry space. For contacts with school stations/universities, please enter a note ‘School’ in the QTH entry space, which can be accessed via the ‘Change’ button. When using a digimode, please replace the DIGITAL entry with the used mode (e.g. PSK31). Familiarise yourself with the software beforehand. Tnx to Torsten Kohnke and Horst DM2FDO for programming and providing the software.

The Neumeyer-Station III in the Antarctic will be active from 10 to 12 UTC on QO-100 satellite with the callsign DP0GVN and Alex will preferably listen to school stations.
-
Unfortunately, we can't expect much activity from UK schools on 5 May this year, as this is the first Monday in May when schools are closed for the Bank Holiday. In 2026, however, 5 May falls on a Tuesday.
-
The Nuremberg Tech University DF0OHM is organising a ‘radio bingo’ on 2m and 10m on 5 May at the end of the ‘Simon Marius Activity Week’. However, the reception range will probably be limited to northern Bavaria and neighbouring areas. More information under https://www.darc.de/fileadmin/filemounts/distrikte/b/Rundspruch/Frankenrundspruch_17.txt

Participation in class A is not limited to the bands 80m, 40m and 20m just because meeting frequencies are given for these bands. Other HF bands can also be used according to the band plan. However, the radio weather forecast for the coming week does not indicate good conditions for the higher bands.
-
The national Can-Sat competition for Lithuania has been postponed from 5 May to 15 May, so the radio activity planned for 5 May from the venue, Molétai airfield approx. 50 km north of Vilnius, will not take place. Nevertheless, the Vilnius University club station LY1BWB will be active on 5 May.

Please help to expand the List of Active School Stations’ ist, even if the listed station will be only temporarily active. The list serves to network the school stations with each other, but is also used as a reference when it comes to obtaining support from the authorities for setting up a school station.
If you have any questions about Europe Day or the school station list, please feel free to contact me. I myself will be active on shortwave on 5 May under the AATiS club call DF0AIS and am already looking forward to many nice contacts from all over Europe.
